Tasting Turkish Culture

From Sanliufra From Sanliurfa ( Sacred Lake )  A Holy site in Urfa where the father of monotheistic religions, Abraham, is said to have been thrown into a lake of fire. By Allah's  ( God ) grace, the fire was turned into water and woods into fish.  Bosphorus  ( From Istanbul )

Istiklal ( Independence) Street is the most famous pedestrian street in Istanbul. On the street, you can see different types of stores, hawkers, schools, mosques, churches and so on. It is also common to see musicians here.The street is almost four miles long.It is home to the second- oldest subway in the world, stretching all the way from Taksim Square to the Tunnel. My husband and I walked all the way down the street, and bought roasted corn and chestnuts.Here are some pictures I've taken for you.   .

 Dried Fruits...  Legumes...  Spices... Dried fruits and herbals....    During my summer in Turkey, I revisited many places from the past to refresh my memories of my culture. One such place was the lokman hekim-the herbalist.The herbalist has always been a vibrant part of Turkish    culture, and inside there were legumes like chickpeas and beans, dried fruits, spices of every color and taste, herbs of every scent imaginable. Everything smelled fresh and unique. Each thing served a purpose, naturally cured a different sickness. Here are some pictures...

Rumelihisaristu was another station in our short Istanbul trip as my husband loved to visit his university graduated from. Bogazici University is one of the most eminent universities in Turkey. Founded in 1863, it is the first American higher education institution founded outside the United States, having strong ties to the American educational system through Robert College. Boğaziçi University consistently ranks as the most popular university in Turkey, having the most number of applicants via the Turkish university entrance examinations. While he was refreshing his memories during the visit we were also taking pictures. I really loved the campus and buildings, especially the south campus faces to the beautiful Bosphorus . We drank tea towards to the Bosphorus which is necessity and then walk through by. Along the cost cafes were full and the people in the boats waving hand to us. It was little bit hot but still was a great day..

Life is so busy in Turkey. I have been shopping, visiting my relatives, and traveling.Because of this I cannot update very often. This weekend my husband and I went to Istanbul. That was awesome. I took a lot of picture for you. I will update them with some information . Stay in tune!
